Microsoft have confirmed further details for the upcoming Halo 4, this time announcing “Halo Infinity Multiplayer. The new addition said to build upon Halo’s multiplayer history and ‘innovate and redefine the way people think about storytelling and multiplayer experiences’.
The hub of the Halo 4 multiplayer experience is the UNSC Infinity – the largest starship in the UNSC fleet that serves as the centre of your Spartan career. From here players will be able to build their custom Spartan-IV supersoldier as they progress their multiplayer career across competitive and cooperative game modes.
Surrounded by the sights, sounds and crew of the biggest vessel in the UNSC fleet, your multiplayer experience will be embedded in the fiction of the franchise, progress and game choices even affecting the appearance, arsenal and role of your digital presence on the battlefield.
The story of the UNSC Infinity intersects with the single-player campaign, then continues on in a brand-new, story-driven experience known as “Spartan Ops”. An episodic adventure that blends storytelling, cinematics, and action to deliver an unprecedented serialised experience across Xbox Live.
Microsoft confirming that the associated episodes will centre on the UNSC Infinity leaders and crew, and a new team of Spartans – Majestic Squad – and will be playable in single-player or cooperatively (with up to three friends) as players explore the corners of Requiem.
Elsewhere, what Microsoft dub “Total Combat Freedom” expands the existing suite of multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles, armour abilities, while the game is also set to introduce a new loadout and player progression system, and a new armour modification system that introduces gameplay-enhancing customisations for a first time in the franchise, with players earning combat enhancements called “Specialisations” based on their style of play.
Halo 4 will release on Xbox 360 on 6 November 2012.
